{The Week}

WOW! So much happened last week that I can't mention it all but it was a great week amazingly enough. Now we (I) am just trying to recover :)

BIG GIRL
Marly is so proud of herself. Braydon taught her how to ride her bike without the training wheels. It took about a 1/2 hour. Good thing we have him to teach everyone else to ride their bike- SERIOUSLY he has taught all the kids and a few cousins and neighbors.


LEAVES
Karsyn and Marly had fun in the leaves- and boy do we have leaves!!!

SO TIRED
Marly fell asleep while I was on the computer. I went over to see if she had eaten her mashed potatoes before she fell asleep and was very surprised to see how she fell asleep. She was TOTALLY in them. I had to stop laughing to take a picture and then pull her up for some air.

PUMPKIN PATCH
We had fun picking our own pumpkins this year. Thanks to the Buetts Family for suggesting the idea- our kids had a ton of fun. Bethany and Treyson came along too.

{Crazy Week}

I am alive but life is nuts.
Between:
~getting caught up from harvest
~making a special album for Colby and Jenna
~getting the District 6 Festival and IDT registration mailers typed, copied, addressed and out to over 75 schools
~getting the roadshow pictures displayed at the church
~driving to preschool
~running forgotten items to school
~making a display for the bows
~deciding on a name for the bows- I know I am having a tough time with that
~working on more bows
~wrestling practice
~dance practice
~scouts
~and all the other things I am "supposed" to be doing since I am the mom
I haven't taken too many pictures

I really thought that I would have a pretty easy going week but our neighbor Grandma Barnes passed away this morning. Which is so sad. Some of my dearest friends are so sad because of her passing... which makes me sad. And this also means that I will be watching some of their children while they attend the temple and the viewing. I am so grateful to be able to, I just wish I could do more! So, if I don't get anything cute posted for a few days you will know why. Hopefully after everything calms down I will be able to post some pictures of the bows that I have been meaning to post. :)

{Spud Harvest}

Last week Boyd was able to take a ride in a helicopter. It was strange because when they came to pick him up they landed right in front of us in the field. While he was in the air he got some great shots of us digging. It's even my truck in the picture under the digger- so that is fun. It was a little hard to focus on driving when they were hovering above me.



He also got a good shot of the new cellars and yard.


When they were done they landed right by the digger while we were fixing it... too bad the kids weren't up there that morning they would have loved it. I think he had a great time.

We had a great harvest. Everything went great and we were able to finish just before the "lovely" snow. *Thanks for the great pictures Boyd, we love them.

{RoadShow}

September 30th and October 1st

Oh Dear what do I say? Um... Roadshow you want me to do what? What exactly does the director do? Actually I had no real idea because I have never been in a Roadshow. Infact, the only time I have had anything to do with it was when I was the Young Women President in our Ward and they called a Director who did it all. I think she made me be one of the "Dancing Cows" because they were trying to get back at me for them being called to the Roadshow Committee... little did they know that I had no idea who the Bishop was going to call until they were called. BUT whatever :) Here is a picture to give you a better idea. (Wow that picture was actually kindof hard to find.) Now how silly we look doesn't still really give you a good idea about how "silly" the song was... but we were "Remarkable Cows!" :)

Well we had a hard theme. Our Stake assigned time periods for each Ward to use for their theme. Starting with the Pioneers and going until the 70's. We were assigned the Pioneer Era- SO... how do you make pioneers fun, funny, entertaining etc. ??? Luckily we have the greatest Youth in our Ward, awesome Leaders and wonderful people helping me on the Roadshow Committee. :) We performed on Tuesday and Wednesday night. They did so great both nights! I was so proud of them. They all worked very hard and are very fun Youth and Leaders!

Oh dear, where do I begin?

1 I love the smell of exhaust... I am not sure if I like it because it reminds me of fun times or if I am just "weird"? But when I was pregnant and couldn't go sledding I would sniff Kent's clothes when he got home from riding because it smelled so good. It isn't a pregnant thing... I always like it. But let me clarify- I don't like the smell of diesel exhaust... blah!

2 I can shake my eyes and move them one at a time... every once in a while I do it just to freak people out.

3 I can happily survive on popcorn, peanut butter, milk, apples and cheese... okay and maybe a little ice cream. Poor Kent he has to always tell me what he would like for dinner because beside my favorite foods mentioned above my favorite dinner is tuna casserole. I don't mind making what he wants but he has to tell me because I am good with the same food over and over and over.

4 I like to hangout with the guys i.e. motorbike, skiing, sledding, camping, hiking, driving spud truck, whatever... but I want to look like a girl while doing it... like I always want my toe nails painted.

5 I pick up things with my toes. I didn't know that was weird until I did it in front of my MIL and family one day when I dropped a baby blanket. It just seemed natural to pick it up with my toes... why bend clear over? But I soon found out that most people don't do that.

6 I don't like talking to strangers- even if they aren't strange:) It takes me a while to warm up to people... I always thought I would grow out of my shyness but some days it just doesn't seem to be so.

7 I like LOUD music. Loud like I will probably be deaf someday. I just like to feel the music sometimes and of course then I have to dance to the music.

Life here is busy and great. Harvest is going really well. The crops look great and so far there haven't been any major disasters. I love the harvest even though I am really tired and really dirty. There is something about the "smell" of harvest that makes me smile. AND I am so grateful that Kent is willing to work hard at the farm and even more grateful that I don't have to do it all the time.

Driving truck gives me a lot of time to think. It is good to have a moment without all the confusion of the everyday. I remember why I fell in love with Kent, why I wanted to be a mother, why I love living here, how I love the seasons and I realize all I have to be grateful for. Of course there are things in my life I would change... but they aren't important things and they aren't things that really matter to me. I guess that is why after our bountiful harvest we have Thanksgiving because we have so much to be thankful for.

It also seems so fitting that General Conference comes around the same time as harvest. It is my spiritual harvest that really sustains me and lifts me up. I thought that this Conference was wonderful. It filled me with great desire to strive to live better and have more faith in my Heavenly Father. It also gave me the guidance that I was needing in my life.

I forget who's talk it was but it was Sunday afternoon and he was talking about an experience he had with his small son. But the part that really rings in my head is "I hope you know I am having a hard time." I have felt that way before and that talk really touched me. It reminded me how much my Heavenly Father loves me and cares when I am having a hard time.

One of the other talks I enjoyed was when President Monson was talking about the little things in life that we will miss someday- how we need to enjoy the little things and live for today and not put things off until tomorrow. I think I liked it because I really needed to be reminded to enjoy the little things. Sometimes those little things that once drove me crazy are the things I miss most. If I could stop the clock today I would because the kids are growing so quickly and the world is so scary. Everyone told me that they would grow very fast and that all sounded a little strange when I was so exhausted from sleepless nights (which I am very bad at)... but they don't need me like they used to and sometimes the boys don't talk to me like they used to and I realize they are growing up and some of those sweet little moments are just memories.

So, I want to take time to just stop and enjoy the Today's before they are yesterdays. And I want to be more grateful for the things that I do have because I have everything that I really need and I have everything that I always wanted... I have a wonderful husband that I adore and love with all my heart and I have sweet kids that are precious to me in so many ways... I have my family.

The things I have learned:
They won't sleep with you forever
They don't always hug you around your leg.
They won't always think you are amazing.
They won't always greet you at the door when you come home.
They won't always want to help.
They won't always need your help.
They won't always want to be tucked in at night.

So
Don't be mad that they want to sleep with you because you will miss those cuddles that used to keep you up- love that they love you and hold them close.

Don't push them away as you hurry along your with your day - take a moment and let them love you.

Don't get annoyed with the endless questions - be grateful they still think you know everything and try to make up a good answer.

Don't be too tired to give hugs when you come home - take time to listen to their stories and to recieve their hugs and kisses.

Don't get bothered when they want the big broom - someday they won't want it at all so let them learn to help while they still want to.

Don't get frustrated when they want you to help with things you know they can do alone - be glad they still want your help.

Don't be too tired to tuck them in at night - kiss them and love them so they never forget how much you love them.
